A non governmental organisation, Aaron Gana Foundation has awarded three student of The Apostolic Church Secondary School located in Patigi, Kwara North Senatorial district with Scholarship.
The foundation established in honour of Professor Aaron Gana a political scientist ,one of Nigeria’s foremost Scholars recognised both locally and internationally
Beneficiaries of the award this year are students who have difficulties with funding for their education ,they include Fadele Isreal who will be sponsored from J SS2 to JSS3,Lydia Ishola also to be sponsored from JSS2 to 3 and Ishola Johnson from SSS 1 to 3,the awardees are exceptional students whose parents are unable to pay their fees. For Lydia Johnson and Fadele Israel, they will continue to enjoy the scholarship to SSS 3 upon the success of their junior WAEC.
The Father of Ishola is a grade 2 teacher, retired without pension, a native of Igbetti but settled in Patigi, While the Father of Fadele is the son of the pioner of the school but also he’s unable to meet up with the financial obligation of sending the boy to school In the case of Lydia after attending School for a whole year without paying, she was withdrawn from TAC, until help came from Aaron Gana Foundation and she was readmitted into TAC.
The award was presented to the students, by Dr Paul Egun, who presented a check of three hundred and forty three thousand three hundred on behalf of the foundation to the School.
Speaking at the Occasion, which held at the foundation office in Abuja ,Dr Paul Egun stated that the award was giving to the students in recorgniton of the fact that they are in need of financial assistance,without which their pursuit of education will be difficultHe advised the student to work hard and come up with excellent result, because that is the only way they can show appreciation and encourage the foundation to do more.
Professor Aaron Gana, a political scientist was born in Patigi Kwara State and married to his wife Joana Ebun Gana,he graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, University of Jos, University of Pittsburgh among other institutions.
He Lectured at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria,City University New York,among others.
Upon his retirement from the University of Jos,he established African Centre for Democratic Governance , He was also the pioneer Vice Chancellor Bingham University Karu Nasarawa State.
