APC Fires Atiku For Congratulating New British PM, Johnson

APC Bitter With Atiku For Congratulating New British PM, Johnson

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its displeasure with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over what it termed as usurping responsibilities of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The party took to its twitter handle to release series of tweets signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu and called out Atiku for making public statements on issues, which according to the party should be reserved for the duly elected head of government or his designees.

The party wondered why, Atiku would continue to intentionally undermine the office of the President, accusing him of demonstrating lack of regard for the sovereignty of the office of the President through what it termed as “condescending statements”

The party was particularly miffed by Atiku’s statement congratulating new British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, alluding such to him acting as a shadow president.

“He (Atiku) has made several of such statements regarding activities of the Nigerian military, issues of national security and international relations. The latest of such statements is the one he made on the emergence of @BorisJohnson as Prime Minister of Britain even when our duly elected President, who has the responsibility of making an official statement on such matter, has made the position of our country known. We note with serious concern that @atiku has been throwing himself around as a shadow President of Nigeria.”
