20 Burnt To Death In Bauchi Auto-Crash
No fewer than 20 people were reportedly killed in a fatal motor accident at Tirwun village, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis along Bauchi-Maiduguri express.
The victims were burnt beyond recognition while two female survivors sustained varying degree of injuries.
The accident was said to have occurred on Sunday evening when an Hummer bus on its way to Maiduguri from Jos collided with a Gulf taxi coming from Misau to Bauchi.
Confirming the accident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, DSP Ahmed Wakil said that the bodies of the victims has being deposited at the mortuary of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) while the two females are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The PPRO though could not confirm the cause of the accident, but he said Police personnel responded promptly to the distress call and joined in the evacuation of the victims.
