President Muhammadu Buhari finally returned to Nigeria from his medical trip to the United Kingdom, after over 104 days.
The presidential jet, Eagle 1 landed at the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 4:36pm on Saturday.
The president was received by acting president Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Imo State governor and chairman of APC governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha as well as his media aides, Femi Adesina, Garba Shehu, National coordinator of Team Nigeria Bestman J. Nze and other cabinet members.
Buhari was seen dressed in black traditional attire while acknowledging cheers from his supporters and family members, amid a broad smile.
Meanwhile, the President is expected to address the nation through a national broadcast on Monday, by 7am.
However, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, claimed that he became emotional, after seeing how Nigerians received his boss on Saturday.
He said he was welcomed by a large entourage at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and greeted by thousands of citizens as he drove to the Aso Villa.
“On his way to the Presidential Villa, President Buhari stops to greet thousands of his supporters who are here since morning to welcome him.
“The crowd is massive, I mean very very massive, Baba Buhari is genuinely loved by the People and he loves the people too” Bashir tweeted.
In another reaction, Zahra Buhari-Indimi, daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, has asked Nigerians to pray for those who wished the President dead.
President Buhari returned to the country Saturday after 103 days medical vacation in London.
In excitement, Zahra took to her Instagram page to share her joy over her father’s recovery and return.
She stated that some people wanted to eliminate the President but God’s grace surpassed them.
She urged Nigerians to say a prayer for them (her father’s enemies).
She wrote: “welcome back home, Daddy!
“Cheers to the strongest man I know. Alhamdulillah!
“Say a prayer for those that want to eliminate him to get their way. God is watching. I pray that He guides us all onto the straight path.”
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described the return of President Muhammadu Buhari from London as symbolic.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State said it was heartening to think of the things that can now be achieved with President Buhari back to lead the nation.
In a statement by his Media Office, Tinubu, the APC leader said Buhari had always been a man of moral fortitude, discipline, strength and dedication.
He added that the attributes had helped him battle medical challenges.
The statement entitled “President Buhari’s Return: A Nation’s Hope Fulfilled” reads: “President Buhari”s return home is our prayers answered. President Buhari has always been a man of moral fortitude, discipline, strength and dedication. These attributes have helped him battle medical challenges. These same attributes will lead him to success in surmounting our national challenges.
“President Buhari has demonstrated time and again his devotion to this nation and its great causes. His love of country and the realization that he has a mission to fulfil so that Nigeria may realize its better self by providing security and prosperity to all Nigerians has compelled him home.
“Just as we gathered to pray for his health and his return, we must remain united in spirit to support President Buhari as he pursues the progressive agenda for which he was elected and that promises us all a better day.
“Our nation is strong but must overcome many challenges. We can do so with President Buhari at the helm and with the rest of the nation in active support.
“Thus, the president’s return home is both real and symbolic. We all must renew our faith in our collective purpose and rededicate ourselves to a nation indivisible and united in reconstructing our political economy so that it provides a decent and good life to all our people.
“It has been a heartening thing to see that our nation has matured to the point where governance continued in a meaningful, seamless manner during the president’s absence. This again was a sign of the harmony between President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
“Today is a glad and happy one for those who wish Nigeria well. While we celebrate the President’s return, we also must quickly turn to the hard and heavy work at hand.
“With President Buhari back and with the nation united behind him, we can accomplish excellent things. May we do our best to become our best.

Meanwhile, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as reacted to the return of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Atiku, via his twitter account, wrote: “Welcome back,@NGRPresident@MBuhari. Wishing you good health to fulfill the promises to Nigeria”.
On his part, Sokoto Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal urged Nigerians not to relent in their prayers for President Buhari.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, Tambuwal thanked all those who have prayed for the President’s safe return, and called for more prayers to enable him discharge his responsibilities.
“We have prayed in the past and we will continue our prayers. The President is holding the mandate of Nigerians as such we will continue to pray for him and his deputy to ensure they execute the mandate successfully,” he added.
He said the people and government of Sokoto state have rejoiced in the good news of the President’s return, and expressed confidence that the country will continue on its positive trajectory.￼
Similarly, the Arewa Consultative Forum has expressed its joy over the president’s return.
In a statement by its spokesman, Muhammed Ibrahim Biu, ACF described the Buhari’s home coming as a heart warming development which has restored hope and confidence in the minds of Nigerians.
“Mr. President’s home coming has restored hope and confidence in the minds of Nigerians.
“ACF therefore commends Nigerians for their persistent prayers and good wishes for President Buhari’s good health and safe return to continue with the good work he and his team are doing.
“Now that President Buhari is home and healthy, ACF urges Nigerians to continue to pray to Almighty Allah, to give Mr. President courage and wisdom to tackle the numerous challenges now confronting the country.
“Issues of insecurity, the economy, hate speeches and songs, blind agitations for secession, corruption and political gangsterism are threatening the peace, unity and corporate existence of the nation.
“Although, the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo did his best in handling the challenges, there is the need to deploy all constitutional powers at the disposal of the President to deal with the situation.
”Nigerians now expects the President to effect real changes with vigor to meet up with their aspirations,” he added.
