The Ogun State Police operatives have arrested a 43-year-old housewife, Bisola Awodele, for allegedly pouring hot water on her husband thereby causing him severe burns.

Police preliminary investigations also revealed that the suspect housewife gave birth to a baby about eight months ago, but killed and secretly buried the baby out of frustration.

Bisola was said to have been arrested on March 8, 2021 by the operatives of the Ogun State Police Command.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun State Command, who confirmed the arrest of the housewife said the suspect was arrested following a report by the husband, one Peter Phillips, who rushed to Sango Ota Police Area Command of Ogun State with a first degree burns all over his body.

Oyeyemi said that Philips reported that his wife, a mother of five, accused him of getting drunk always and as a result, picked a pot containing already heated hot water and poured on him.

“She stated further that on that fateful day, the husband came home drunk as usual, and while she was complaining about her husband’s act of drunkenness, the man started insulting her and her parents, which infuriated her, consequent upon which she poured the hot water on his body,” Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police added.

Oyeyemi said the police investigating team had gone with the suspect to the secret grave where she allegedly buried her baby to exhume the carcass. The police image maker said the injured husband had been taken to the General Hospital, Ota, where he is recuperating.
