How To Boost Your Immune System Against Covid-19

Prof Akin Abayomi, Lagos Commissioner for Health said, “The major cure of the virus is your immune system. Many scientists have correctly called that boosting our immune system is the number one defensive mechanism against Covid -19. Being malnourished is one way to hurt your immune system. Bit by bit every country is testing its methods through trial and error.

Sleep like a regular human being.

Research shows that staying up all night can wreak havoc on your immune system, making you more likely to catch a virus and making it even harder to fight it off.

Soak up some Sun.

Vitamin D is an immune system supercharger and soaking up a few rays is the most natural and efficient way to stock up on it. Just make sure not to overdo it.

Indulge in tea time.

Sipping tea in the morning or right before bed is so relaxing. A 2003 study revealed that naturally occurring chemicals in tea called alkylamines strengthen the immune system to help it fight off infection.

Exercise.

Exercise may flush bacteria out of your lungs, reducing your chance of picking up an airborne illness. It also causes your white blood cells to circulate more rapidly, allowing your immune system to detect illnesses more quickly.

Drink lemon, honey, ginger and turmeric with warm water.

A 2012 review published in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that _honey_ , an antioxidant, acts as a natural immunity booster. _Ginger_ , another powerful antioxidant with antiviral properties, can be used to treat digestive woes like nausea and motion sickness. _Lemon_ juice is high in vitamin C, which according to Mayo Clinic can be used for its antioxidant properties and to prevent the common cold. Lastly, studies show that curcumin, a component in the spice called _turmeric_ , can regulate the immune system.

Laugh a little (or a lot).

Watching a few episodes of your favorite funny shows are beneficial. A 2007 study found that laughter really is the best medicine: It can give your immunity a ridiculously easy boost. Crack your ribs as you think about our politicians and civil servants – snake swallowed some millions; I didn’t know our hospitals are these deplorable; a journalist facing trial for treason asking how state funds was administered; state house clinic has no syringe despite budgeted funds; some billions distributed as palliative in 24 hours is states where there was no lockdown… Clowns.

God has made adequate provisions through nature to cater for the needs of man. Build up your immunity so can adequately resist the virus. You’re in the driver’s seat, maintain Social Distance, a clean environment and do what’s in your power to do.

In case you’ve come in contact with a confirmed coronavirus case or you’re experiencing the symptoms- fever, cough or difficulty breathing, contact the relevant agency immediately.

NCDC hotline 0800 970 0000 or if you develop any non-COVID-19 health issues during the lockdown period dial 08000EKOMED (08000356633) toll-free line for consultation.
