Lagos SWAN – The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Lagos Chapter, has commended her Grand Patron, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for successful hosting of the maiden edition of Aisha Buhari Cup in Lagos.
Lagos SWAN Chairman, Debo Oshundun, in a statement on Wednesday stated that the Governor deserved all the accolades for the wonderful ambience and the high standard set at the just ended championship.
The SWAN boss noted that Lagos surprised Africa and the globe by hosting a world class event.
“The match venue, Mobolaji Johnson Arena is one of the best stadia you can find in Africa at the moment.
“The Governor and the Lagos State Government have once again shown that they are a model in all sectors with the hosting of the tournament.
“The match venue was put to world class at short notice.
“The countries that participated also had the best of treats in the City of aquatic splendor.
“Recall that the Governor also took it upon himself that the senior national team, the Super Eagles play their FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifying games in Lagos.
“Since assuming office, the Governor has been our pillar in Lagos SWAN. We have enjoyed his tremendous support and we appreciate him, his aides and the entire Lagos State Sports Commission for all they do to develop sports among our youths.
“Its a fact that the state Sports Commission also organised summer Camps for the Lagos State students from ages 8 to 15 during the long vacation.
“The students were taught sports and robotic learning.
“On this note, we say a big thank you to the Governor for giving sports a facelift and also putting the girl child in a special place in his heart,” Oshundun said.
The Lagos SWAN chairman, also thanked the Lagos State First Lady, Dr (Mrs) Ibironke Sanwo-Olu for playing a significant role in the hosting of the tournament tagged: Playing for good’ in the state.
