The governor expressed worry over the high rate of unemployment in the state, based on this he reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling all his campaign promises, including creating employment opportunity through public and private partnership for youths and women across the 23 local government areas in the state.
This was made known when he was addressing residents of Kaduna North Central at his first town hall meeting organized by office of Special Adviser on Political matters, El-Rufai said they should be rest assured that creating the jobs would be done as soon as possible to absorb a reasonable number of unemployed youth roaming streets of Kaduna over the years under the PDP-led government.
El-Rufai said ” directives has been given to employ ten persons each from the 255 wards in the state to work as Health Inspectors and over a thousand to be engaged to work in a proposed fertiliser plant that would be built in the state soon “.
He also reveals that plans have gotten to advanced stage to partner with a private company that will train 200 hundred people to become taxi drivers, in other to be able to drive the 200 new Peugeot cars procured for the new Kaduna Intracity Taxi cab scheme.
Another major development to eradicate unemployment in the state is that the state government has met with owners of textile mills and textile unions to revamp the closed textile mills in the state. While stating that he has briefed President Muhammadu Buhari who promised to also assist, he said once the textile mills are back in operation, over 30,000 employees would be engaged.
He also spoke about the state government’s plans to complete Zaria water project, fix roads, equip hospitals, provide chairs in primary schools and improve other areas of importance to the masses.
Finally, the governor urged residents to be patient as government is doing its work to transform the state to a better place for all to live.
