One of the talented and fast rising Nigerian hip-hop musician. Ibrahim Hassan Popular Called EKO has revealed why he is using his song to promote Lagos State Goverment.
Eko who was born January 21st 1980 said he intentionally popularized his brand for promoting the Lagos state government, that distinguishes him from other circular hip-hop artists out there.
Eko, who was born in Agege, moved to his maternal parents at Opete village in Eruwa town when he was five years old. Eko began his primary education at Methodist primary school, Temidire Ago Ajala, and proceeded to Akolu Grammar School in 1992. He was about to begin his senior secondary school in the year 1996 when he came back to Lagos to live with his parent. Then, he got enrolled to African Church Grammar School in Ifako Ijaiye local government.
Fortunately, he sat for NECO examination under the administration of Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2000 and in all fairness, himself and other students got registered for free. Subsequently, he proceeded to Government Technical College, Ikotun to study Automobile Mechanic Trade with the practical experience cognated under Mr. Babatude Akinbo, the CEO of Ramsonek Nigeria Limited and graduated in 2000.
Eko said, In reality, African Church Grammar School was the first place he saw co-students gather with the aim of rehearsing hip hop songs. Then, it never occurred to him that a day will come whereby he will singing the same music. As a young boy who listens to the legend brands of music, he affirmed that his inspiration was gotten from them.
Hassan who worked with about three companies before quitting began to invest on his talent. He recorded his first single to promote Lagos state “Eko Dotun” under the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, and recorded “Igbega Eko” for the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu during his campaign.
Eko said many people out there began to ask him why he was singing to promote Lagos state, some misinterpreted it for praising the politicians. He replied; I clearly made them understand that it’s my little way to say thank you. A place that have accommodated my parents and also myself deserves many albums if the opportunity comes.
