New Lagos APC Chairman, Tunde Balogun Unsettles Party, Moves To Annul Congress Results

The newly sworn in Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Tunde Balogun is already causing ripples in the State Chapter of the ruling party less than two weeks after assuming office.

Chief Balogun’s autocratic tendencies has been brought to the fore as he has allegedly vowed not to recognise the results of validly conducted wards and Local government Congresses in some parts of Lagos.

In a statement being widely circulated within the APC in Lagos, well meaning stakeholders in the State have raised alarm over the plan by Alhaji Tunde Balogun to tamper with the results of the peaceful, free and fair election held in Lagos for both the Wards and LGA Congress election.

He has vowed not to inaugurate the LGA chairmen of the following Local Governments:Iru/Vi, isolo, Apapa/Apapa Igunmu, Ikosi Ejirin, ikorodu, Bariga, Shomolu, itire/Ikate Local Governments and few others. When asked how he intends to effect the change in Abuja, the Chairman retorted that Abuja cannot dictate to him what to do in Lagos. The Local Government of the Ex-Chairman, Henry Ajomale which is Isolo LCDA was also not spared of the disruptive interference of the new Chairman.

Mr Balogun’s dictatorial tendencies is already causing disaffection in the Lagos APC State Exco as members are peeved by what they describe as the Chairman’s high handedness and moves to disrupt the peace of the party.

Some chieftains of the APC who pleaded anonymity also questioned the allegiance of the new chairman as they alleged he might be working for the renegade faction of the party backed by some political appointees in Abuja.

Chief Balogun also reportedly stated that he is now in charge of APC and calls the shot, hence he will determine who gets what, irrespective of the wish of party members as expressed in the just concluded ward and LG congress.

Political stakeholders in the State are calling in the leadership of APC including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to immediately intervene and save the party from imminent chaos should the chairman go ahead with his plan
