Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki speaking on ARISE TV Morning Show today (Tuesday) maintained that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and others like him are threats to democracy in Nigeria.
He said “There is nothing in our party or the constitution of our party that gives anybody the title of a leader,” he said, adding that bearing that title “does not give them any constitutional power to sit in the comfort of their rooms and decide who gets what office.”
“If we allowed them to continue with what they are doing they will harm our democracy,” he said.l
Obaseki vehemently warmed the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole not to make any attempt to disrupt the good governance of the state, else he will be chased out.
Obaseki on Sunday was declared winner of the Edo Governorship election after defeating APC Governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, stated this.
He said he was truly humbled by the outcome of the election because he had just been able to reflect on his victory adding that it could only be God.
Obaseki said that he would cage Oshiomhole if he misbehaves in Edo State.
“I have no intention to drive Oshiomhole from Edo, but if he continues to unleash his lions, we will have no mercy.”
Obaseki noted that he’s always open to receiving Ize-Iyamu if he reaches out to him.
“This is not the first time I am contesting with Pastor Ize-Iyamu, we have a relationship, we have a family relationship,” he said, noting that the APC candidate is a Pastor and he believes Ize-Iyamu will not harbor hatred in his heart.
”It’s not right to jettison them, I have no plan to return to APC,” Obaseki said.
