One million Bauchi communities to get portable water

The Managing Director of Bauchi state water Corporation engineer Aliyu Aminu Gital has explained that over one million people are expected to benefit from the expansion and on going rehabilitation of Bauchi Water urban water projects.

Gital stated this yesterday in Bauchi when he interacted with reporters , He said the World Bank is supporting the state government to re activate rehabilitate and expand the water supply scheme of Bauchi metropolis, this is because the capacity of the existing facilities cannot supply the water demand of the metropolis, so that rehabilitating and expanding its expecting by the facilities will be able to provide the water demand of the metropolis not only now but up to 2027, we have now reached to the point where we laid down water pipes which will cover over 167 kilometers.

He said​ we have completed the laid down of water pipes in Government Reserved Area GRA like in Sokoto, Kano, and kaduna road in old GRA, we have also laid down pipes in​ State lowcost, even though we have challenges inlaying the pipes from Gubi dam to town in some areas there are rocks we are still working destroying these rocks and laying down our water pipes.

Gital said presently the population of Bauchi people is between 600,000 to 650,000 and since the project will reach 2027 we estimated that by that time the population will reach over one million and sixty people.

On the repair of electric poles destroyed by windstorm the General manager said they working hard on the project as directed by the state governor as part of our corporate social responsibility ,we have already repaired classrooms that were blown up by the windstorm.

Gital advised the people of the state to cooperate with the corporation in it’s effort to ensure the success of the exercide to enable Bauchi community to have required portanle water
