The newly elected National Secretary from the just concluded election of the new leadership of the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists, NGIJ, Abdulrahman Aliagan has called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Mohammed Adamu and the Director General of the Directorate of State Security, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi to save his life from one Mr. Olawale Abydeen, Publisher, Security Monitor, an online platform, and the immediate past acting President of the Guild.

This medium recalls that Abydeen was the former acting President of the steering committee of the Guild until the acting executive was dissolved at the Guild’s virtual Congress held in June, 2020.

Aliagan said he got the hint of Abydeen’s arrival in Abuja from Lagos through a Lawyer friend who incorporated the Guild.

This is medium reports that Abydeen, a Lagos based journalist, has since been in Abuja acting under the guise of his wife, who is a Police officer in Lagos, making contacts with some Police Officers-SARS, closed to Sharon Ultimate Hotel in Garki Area of Abuja.

In the words of Aliagan, “the Lawyer told me that Abydeen called him to say he is in Abuja and wanted to settle an issue with me and so wanted him to bring me along.

“the lawyer said Abydeen told him he was in a Garden and since he was closed to the garden, he rushed there only to walk in to ambush if some policemen who began to interrogate him on why he gave the certificate of incorporation of the Guild to me instead of Abydeen.

“The lawyer said he told them he didn’t know Abydeen as I was the one filing in the papers moreover that since Abydeen’s name is not the only one on the certificate he can give it to any of us, members of trustees.

“And if there is any misunderstanding why can’t he report to the appropriate quarters and let them invite Aliagan officially instead of a gestapo approach.
Moreover, why is he asking for certificate of incorporation after about two years?”

Stating further Aliagan stated that the alleged members of SARS had been tracking his phone and monitoring his calls which had warranted him switching off his phone for close to four days now.

He said Abydeen had earlier called members of his family, friends and colleagues to issue threats alleging that I supported the dissolution of the acting executive which he led and promised to deal with him decisively.

“It becomes more necessary for me to call on the Inspector General of Police, the DG DSS and other security agencies to SAVE MY LIFE and that of MY FAMILY from OLAWALE ABIDEEN popularly called RAYNERS. Also, friend of mIne sent me a text message when he could not reach me that one YUSUF OLAYINKA ERUBU alias Bobulux called him to ask for my house number, my street and where I lived in Abuja.

“Olayinka has been known to be Wale’s friend for decades, he has also called on one of the NGIJ’s member to harras and call him a betrayer,” Aliagan said.

Aliagan stated that all efforts to reach Abydeen for over three weeks for possible resolutions through friends, colleagues, several calls, texts and WhatsApp messages have proved abortive.

“I therefore called on all authorities concerned to save my life and that of my family, from a desperate journalist and his accomplice police-wife,”

In a related development the association says it dissociates itself from the nefarious activities of Abydeen who had hitherto been using the Guild as his personal property as well as a tool to witch-hunt corporate organizations, particularly, banks for his personal gains.
