ZAMFARA GOVT SECURES RELEASE OF 25 PERSONS FROM CAPTORS

As part of the Zamfara State Government peace effort to end banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling the state Government through the peace process has secured the release of 25 Fulani people who were kidnapped since 9th April, 2019 by the local Vigilante Popularly known as “Yansakai ” in Dansadau Emirate of Maru local Government area of the state.

The 25 persons who were released by the Yansakai include Men,Women and children were handed over to the State Governor, Hon Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle by the State State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Usman Nagoggo at the Government House, Gusau.

Receiving the release person’s, Governor Matawalle commended the effort of the Police in the state for the feat achieved and urged them to maintain the tempo of restoring peace in the state.

While addressing the released persons, Governor Matawalle congratulated them for regaining their freedom and called on them to advise their children and relatives to come and embrace the peace process initiated by the state government for the betterment of everybody in the state and Nigeria in general.

He also asked the Fulanis to advice their people who have custody of other victims to release in the spirit of the peace accord.

Governor Matawalle also appealed to the good people of the State to assist his government in its efforts to end banditry so that every citizen of the state will continue with their normal life freely without the fear of being attacked or kidnapped.

Matawalle also directed for the rehabilitation of the release victims before their families are contacted and for adequate arrangements to be made for their formal release to their families.
